I've been impressed with the utility of ketamine in many situations, but I do have a bias against it and it's a very personal one. When I was a child, I had a number of craniofacial operations, and I'm sure that I was given ketamine. I had frightening emergence reactions, which I still remember. Now I don't know how much of those reactions I can actually attribute to ketamine, but I find myself hesitant to use it because of the potential for psychological effects.
